What does interdiction, interdiction and clearance mean in international shipping?

In the international logistics industry, what do these customs interception, port interception and customs clearance specifically refer to? What's the difference?

01 What is interception?

Cut-off (receipt date) refers to the latest date for the delivery of the goods to the designated vessel for shipment, also known as cut-off release time, that is, the time for customs clearance. The goods must be cleared before customs clearance and submitted to the shipping company.

If the customs release slip is submitted after this time, the shipping company will regard the goods as failing to clear customs and release them, and will not allow them to board the ship. Generally 1-2 days before the ship leaves (bulk cargo is 5-7 days in advance), and generally half a working day after the port cut-off time.

Truncated release slip means that after the goods are declared, the customs will issue a release slip (that is, the certificate of shipment). Then the customs broker will give the release slip to the shipping company, the shipping company received this release slip, only know that the cargo cabinet customs release, can arrange the hanging cabinet on board.

02 What is Interdiction?

Port cut-off is also called container cut-off (return) time. This means that after this time, the shipping company will no longer arrange to return the cabinet to the voyage.

Before the time, the container can be loaded into the dock or into the warehouse, after which it can not enter the dock again, generally 1-2 days before the ship leaves (bulk cargo is 5-7 days in advance).

03 What is customs clearance?

Whether imported goods, export goods or transshipment goods enter the customs or border of a country, they must declare to the Customs, go through the procedures prescribed by the Customs, and fulfill the obligations stipulated by various laws and regulations; Only after fulfilling the obligations, customs declaration, inspection, taxation, release and other procedures, the goods can be released, the owner or the declarant can take delivery of the goods.

Similarly, various means of transport carrying import and export goods entering and leaving or transshipment, are also required to declare to the Customs, go through customs procedures, and get permission from the Customs.

Customs clearance is a procedure after the release of the customs, the relevant information of the release of the goods and the information of the goods have been shipped to the customs, archiving and subsequent export tax refund (foreign exchange write-off) and other work. Therefore, the customs clearance date refers to the date when the international sailing ship completes the customs formalities and clears the various amounts due before export, and the Customs permits it to leave the port for sailing.

Note: Under normal circumstances, customs clearance is about a week after the export of goods. However, it is also possible to extend the clearance time for some special reasons.
